About The Bradford Industrial Museum
Think of industry in Bradford and you think of wool. Think of mills and you think of machinery, steam engines and horses, all of which can be found at Bradford Industrial Museum! Moorside Mills, an original spinning mill, is alive with magnificent machinery which once converted raw wool into the world's best worsted cloth. The Mill Yard rings to the sound of iron on stone as the Shire Horses give rides, pull a horse tram or haul a horse-bus. In the Mill you can experience the sounds and smells of the engines which once powered the mills throughout Yorkshire. John Moore, the original mill-owner and his family lived in the shadow of the mill at Moorside House, which is furnished as they knew it at the turn of the century. A step across the street takes you to the mill workers' houses in Gaythorne Row - typical back-to-back cottages, ranging from late 19th century decor through to the 1950s. *Image is not necessarily one of the museum.
