About The Keighley Bus Museum

Most of Keighley Bus Museum’s servicing, maintenance and restoration work is carried out in Riverside Depot but unfortunately this building is not suitable to be opened as a real Museum on a permanent basis. The Trust is currently working to create a permanent home on the Dalton Lane regeneration site adjacent to the new Keighley College and Bus / rail interchange. The Keighley Bus Museum Trust was founded in 1991, and is a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee, and boasts over 150 members. The Museum was first created at Denholme in 1992 with some fourteen privately-owned buses, because the owners realised they needed to work together to secure accommodation to protect their historic vehicles from the ravages of weather and vandalism, and to have somewhere to carry out restoration work. The collection grew to around thiny, but the situation changed dramatically with the collapse of the Transperience theme park at Bradford in 1998. With help from the Heritage Lottery Fund and others, the Trust bought nine vehicles from the administrators which today form the 'Core Collection''. Since then, other vehicles have been donated, and the Collection now comprises around sixty vehicies, of which roughly half are owned by, or are on Iong-term Ioan to the Trust. These include Britain's Iast trolley bus, Bradford 844, and the oldest known double-deck trolley Bus in the world, Keighley No.5 of 1924.

OPENING TIMES : Tuesday evenings 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm and Saturdays 10.00 am to 4.00 pm when our volunteers are working.
